Random FYI meme

A Cup of Joy tagged me. I've done this one before, but since there are oh-so-many random things about me it's an easy one to do again! *smile*

Random FYI:
1) I *heart* cryptograms, but they are kinda hard to find.
2) I love Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe . . . oh my word that fellow can make me laugh!

3) I always thought that the reason I did not get the roll of Annie in the Movie Annie was cause we never made it to the casting call.
4) Unfortunately, my singing style/talent has been described as "lounge singer", not necessarily the good kind. Yes, I am the bad loud singer at church. Don't stare, it's rude, I'm not stopping.
5) My mother still tells people that I'm fluent in French, even though I have explained on numerous occasions that I took French for a couple of semesters, that is a far cry from being fluent.
6) Yo NO quiero Taco Bell. Nunca, jamas, por nada . . . .guacala!

Those I tagged: Brittney and Singalullaby and YOU!

A meme

And I know I have several others to attend to but here is the first one I'm getting to.

It's an easy one:

THE 5 THINGS I ENJOY MEME!

(easy smeasy!)

  1. Intelligent conversation about the characters of God over coffee
  2. A good book
  3. Performances (of all kinds)
  4. people watching
  5. card and board games

I'm tagging Brittney on this one. And anyone else who wants to play.

I've been tagged.

Rebecca from "Beautiful Feet" tagged me a little while ago with 6 words or phrases about myself.
  1. I love almost anything served up with a dash of humor.
  2. I love to host and socialize. I love to give people my attention. I'm finding it clashes with parenting 3 young ones. They need my attention. That is why we compromise by having game night once a month that starts at kiddy bed time: 8pm.
  3. I (finally) have come to terms with the fact that I am not the great mother I once thought I would be.
  4. Somewhere along the way I got an amazing unshakable faith in Jesus. I just pray that I can pass this beautiful gift on to my own children.
  5. I chose to go to a private collage in Minnesota. Being so expensive I joined the Army National Guard to help pay for it. Most people don't know this about me.
  6. I would love to sit in on a chat with Debi Pearl of the No Greater Joy ministries and Dr. Laura.

OK

If you want to play along please do and let me know so I can go visit!

A meme

You Will Not Be a Cool Parent

And that's pretty okay. While your kids may not think of you as a friend, they will respect you.

You know that kids need discipline and structure, and you're not afraid to give it to them.

Just be careful that your strictness doesn't lead to rebellion.

It's good to have standards and rules, but you don't need to have an iron fist when enforcing them.

And you know what? I'm OK with this.

The middle name meme.

A wandering heart tagged me . . . .

THE RULES:
1. You have to post these rules before you give the facts.

2. You must list one fact that is somehow relevant to your life for each letter of your middle name. If you don’t have a middle name, use the middle name you would have liked to have had.

3. When you are tagged, you need to write your own blog post containing the middle name game facts.

4. At the end of your blog post, you need to choose one person for each letter of your middle name to tag. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged!

I am glad my middle name is a short one, even though it's got some tricky letters . . . . It is . . . *drum roll please*

V-Very often I will drink straight from my milk jug. This does gross my husband out, but he doesn't drink the skim milk anyway . . . but still, I will do it out of his sight.

I-I pretty much say what I mean, and mean what I say . . . so I'm often oblivious and/or otherwise surprised when other's arn't. Without intending to, I've sometimes offended someone because of this . . . . they said they were fine, and I believed them! I wouldn't last long in Japan.

V-Virgil, Verlie, Valoris, Violet, Veronica . . . these are my aunts and uncle, and my middle name comes from my mother Vivian. Ironically my grandmother lost a baby girl between Virgil and Verlie . . . her name was Oletha or somethin like, not V.

I- I aspire to think deep here . . . have deep thoughts, and inspiring moments on this blog . . but dawg-gone it, by the time I sit, they usually evaporate . .. what I then find is that often my comments are more "spiritual" and meaningful than this blog . . . but hey, what can I do, I'm working with pregnancy brain here! And I'm still a mother wiping more butts than just my own, and that does something to you . . . it really does. (please if you take any offence to the reference to wiping butts here, don't tell me, just accept my apology)

A- And I think I just heard my 3 year old turn on the video "Star Wars" . . . .I better go check . . . yup, and that would be her dad's influence . . . Veggie Tales??? Oh, no Luke Skywalker!

N- Not all sign language is universal . . . it's something I find myself talking about almost every Sunday. And yes, it would be easier if it were all the same, but the question remains - who's sign?- Besides, same could be said of spoken language . . . But most importantly . . . different languages was God's idea (see Genesis 11). . . so I'll leave it at that.

Now the tricky part . . .finding bloggers to tag . .

V- can't think of any blogger with V . . .

I- I'm over my head, under His Grace (ha ha! Kelly, STILL got ya!)

V- so if your name is Verlie, Valoris, Vivian, Veronica or Violet - consider yourself tagged.

I- If your interested, Your tagged! (sneeky, I know)

A- Amy from Amy's Blah blah blog

N-nope, I'm out of ideas . . . if your name starts with "N" consider yourself tagged, and let me know who you are.

What a delightful meme!

I've been tagged by Heavenly Voice . . .

It's "The 5 things I dig (love) about Jesus" meme.

Here are the Rules:
Those Tagged will share 5 things they love (dig) about Jesus.
Those tagged will tag 5 other bloggers.
Those tagged will provide a link in the comments section here of their meme so that others can read them and the creator of this meme John Smulo.

  • I love that Jesus is our lover, and with anticipation like a groom for his bride on the wedding night was able to endure the cross for me!
  • I love that He is available and ever there for us.
  • I love that I can approach Him with even the small stuff . . . like where I left my keys . . .
  • I love that He is a gentleman in his approach with us.
  • I love that He doesn't condemn me, criticize me, but instead is my defender, my shelter and is my resting place.

I could go on, but I will now leave that for the five (or more if you want, consider yourself tagged) that I tag.

Real mom's.

So Amy did this meme a while ago, I thought is was real cute so, I'm not really going to make it a meme, but just come up with a few of my own "real moms" moments. Here goes…
  • Real moms has kid scribblings all over anything paperish in their purse.
  • Real moms can walk out of the house with only one hand of painted nails, and not notice, or care.
  • Real moms don't shower every day.
  • Real moms would rather sleep.
  • Real moms have smooshed goldfish in the bottom of their purses (this was amyszoos, but I'm coping it, cause gosh darn . . it's true!)
  • Real moms drop pretty much everything for a cry that sounded like it REALLY hurt.
  • Real moms know the difference.

The 7 meme!

A wandering heart's has tagged me to complete this meme.

Here are the rules: Each player starts with 7 random facts/habits about themselves. People who are tagged need to write on their own blog about their seven things,as well as these rules. You need to choose 7 people to get tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them that they have been tagged and to read your blog!

  1. I would love to be in a community play/musical. Would love it! Even if I don't have the talent. Trust me, I know, and I have several years in high school drama appearing as "chorus" to prove it.
  2. I did a summer as an ice cream truck driver.
  3. I really, really like Dr. Laura. She's got a lot of sense. (I even have a Dr. Laura action figure that my daughter calls "mommy's barbie")
  4. I can't tell left from right without thinking about it, but instead North, South, East and West are how I do directions fairly easily.
  5. I like to cross stitch, but I rarely make/take the time to do it, and I have one piece that I have been working on since 1992 that is about half way done.
  6. I really think men are more handsome in glasses. So even though my hubby has perfect eye sight I sometimes tease him that I'm gonna get him some reading glasses just for fun.
  7. I love a dill pickle wrapped in cream cheese and a slice of ham, or just a dill pickle with peanut butter. I don't care for a dill pickle plain though . . . and these likings are whether I am pregnant or not!

Now I'm supposta tag 7 people:

Look, ma! A MEME!

I was tagged by Barefoot in the Garden.

What’s your name and website URL? Michelle at http://www.betweendiapersanddishes.blogspot.com/ (as if you didn't know)

What’s the most fun work you’ve ever done, and why? (two sentences max) Working as a coffee house barrista at a small college town coffee place. I mean really - social interaction with people that are HAPPY to get what you are giving them (if not down right desperate for it) and we got to pick the music, and drink ALL THE COFFEE WE WANTED!

Name one thing you did in the past that you no longer do but wish you did? (one sentence max) Go out dancing.

Name one thing you’ve always wanted to do but keep putting it off? (one sentence max) Finish my cross-stiching thing of a puppy and a kitten and a basket of yarn that I started in 1993.

What two things would you most like to learn or be better at, and why? (two sentences max) So many things . . .Mexican Sign language - because I'm using it everyday, and, um, home-maker-hood . . . (he he) 'cause I 'm using that everyday too!

If you could take a class/workshop/apprentice from anyone in the world living or dead, who would it be and what would you hope to learn? (two more sentences, max) From Einstein the theory of relativity . . . because that thing about how light and time are interrelated intrigues me to no end . . . I even think has something to do with the first days when God created the world . . .because the first thing he did was create light - hence time began. I think Einstein might be able to explain it in home-maker-hood terms too.

What three words might your best friends or family use to describe you? faithful, hospitable, confidant

Now list two more words you wish described you. feminine, delightful ( I need to soften my edges.)

What are your top three passions? God, family, ministry, and then on the not important passions: culture, board and card games, books and movies

Write–and answer–one more question that YOU would ask someone (with answer in three sentences max) What are you listening to right now?
My little boy running around going "bbrrr, bbrrrrrrr, bbrrrr" with his little matchbox car.

Bonus: What is one question you wish people would ask themselves? Am I supporting missions enough. ;-)

Kelly, The Flip Flop Mama, Just My Two Cents, and Missionary Mom (once your back from your blog break). . . consider yourselves tagged! MMuahahahahahah (if you haven't done this meme already) and others, if you feel like doing this, drop me a note and I'll stop by.

9 weird things meme

Pink Diary had this one.

List 9 weird tid-bits about yourself.

  1. I found skydiving boring after the fist 5 seconds. Yet I did it a second time. It was still dull.
  2. I can't spell, but I enjoy a game of scrabble.
  3. Left and Right is such an abstract and changeable idea for me it doesn't stick, instead I give "to your north" or "on the south side" type of directions. And if we need to make a turn in a car its not "left" or "right" its "my way" "your way"
  4. Bugs, spiders, mice, snakes do not bother me unless they come into my personal space - or they are poisonous.
  5. I don't like to decorate and then "un"decorate and that is one of the reasons, come the holiday seasons, we don't do anything special in the house. We'll celebrate with others if invited, but we do nothing different at home. Thanksgiving may be an exception in the future, but so far we haven't even done anything in our home for that. My children are so deprived! I know!
  6. I love the feeling of cleaning my ears out with a Q-tip. No - you don't understand. I LOVE it. LOOOOOOVE eyes-rolling-back-into-my-head-cause-it-feels-so-good IT! Yes, I know it's not good for the ears, and I've had my ears canals swell up shut for weeks once because of it - but I can't stop myself. LOVE IT.
  7. Parades make me cry - all types - the good ones, the rinky-dink ones. I'm such a sap.
  8. I have a healthy appriciation and general preference for the artificial. Pee behind a tree and use leaves or have indoor plumbing? Milk a cow, or have a plastic gallon at hand? Mommy-belly-rolls (which are a badge of pride for some, so I'm not knocking it, just-- not mine.) or liposuction? Headache or tylonol? Artificial, non-organic foods, canned, packaged, medicated, instant, preserved, disposable . . . Them are my buzz words! I realize this might make me a bad person is someone's opinion, but I'm OK with me.
  9. I do not wish for world peace; "But when you hear of wars and commotions, do not be terrified; for these things must come to pass first . . . Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom . . . Then they will see the Son of Man." (Luke 21:9, 10, 27)
