Oh, YES, she DID!

The lovely, pristine, dainty little Missy of mine, pictured below among the princesses is a well balanced young lady. She's got the girlie down, but don't be fooled, her mama wore army boots, and she's got a bit of that too.

She loves dogs, cats, birds, snakes, spiders, alligators, lizards and your general array of bugs. I think she digs the reptiles more than the birds.

Anywho - so we went to the zoo and they had a show on bugs. SHE LOVED IT! Large hissing cockroaches being a favorite. And then the kind zoo man brought out a giant beetle's larvae that you can eat. That people really do eat, and offered them to the crowd. (Nice kiddy show, eh?)

Dad, who was sitting with her up front, placed one in her hand and told her to "Go show mommy"
The larva never made it. She was chewing it when she got to me!

This from the girl that when we were encouraging her to TRYYYY the caramel dip on the apple slice made out like we wanted her to pull and give us all her teeth!

Go figure.

Uuugggghhhh - chewing on larvae - I have to know, were you calm about it all? Or did you rip it out of her mouth???? Are you ever going to be able to kiss her again? Even if you did wear army boots, that has to be a stretch!

Aaagh!! That is just nasty Michelle. I don't know haw I would've responded. Yeah..I ask too..will you be able to kiss that cute little larvae eating face again? Although I am sure there are times when our kids eat bugs and we don't know about it. Ok, well I'm just not going to think about it.

Wow! That's just gross, but hilarious at the same time. Did she like it?

I didn't know that she had a larvae given to her, so I took her dad explaining to me what she ate before I got it. There was a lot of, "where did it go?" "Where did what go?" "You mean she ATE it!" "Well she's chewing something" Did you eat it? uh-ha.
I asked her - do you want another one? She said no.

Saw you on The Chaotic Home blog and saw your Q about books. Have you read anything by Anne Lamott? She's a Christian mom and writes humorously. Try "Traveling Mercies". I too love humorous writing and attempt to do some of it myself. Come visit sometime:

First thought: thank goodness she's not still in diapers????

Second thought: You may want to consider Teen Missions when she grows up ... I do think I remember being forced to eat similiar things on our missions trip.

Best thought: Its the perfect story to tell when she brings home her first boyfriend- BEFORE their first kiss. hehe.

Always look for the silver lining ... always look for the silver lining ...

I haven't been able to visit your site because my internet was down. I just helped get my sister's site up who is a missionary in Capetown, South Africa. Her site is http://capetownamazing6.blogspot.com
Thought you might like to see it. She will add more pictures as she can. It costs her every time she posts a picture. :) Take care!
