Many interruptions

Is it just in ministry? Is it just my life?

One reality that I have accepted is that my life is never ordinary, in a rut or regular, and that is in large part because I can count on interruptions to my plan daily.

I may have nothing scheduled but I can count on Rita coming over, or my co-missionary calling or Carlos text messaging me . . .

There is always something.

I am very grateful for this, since it guarantees that my life will never be boring.

Still

At moments I would like no one to call me, no one to need something, and no one to come over.

Like today.

I've been needing to deal with the mountain ranges of clean laundry I have piled up (and piled, and piled and piled . .) , and since we went to the swimming pool the other hot day, I've got those towels in another pile along with all the swimming gear here and there dispersed around the usual toys, used sippy cups and forgotten this and that that the children leave as a trail - I'm guessing in case they ever get lost . . .

To deal with the heat of the day and the energy of the kids and my list of "to do" I sent them outside to play in the small pool and when they came back in the house I had them take off their wet clothes and allowed them to put on a video of Blues Clues while I worked. Not feeling the need to require them to put clothes on, because - hey, I've got nothing planned nor know of anyone coming over, the day is my own - *roll eyes here* - and they like to be "organic" anyway . . . .

Wouldn't you know my brother John popped in. Literally, he was in Ensenada for a something and he wanted to just say hi! I think he was a bit flustered (as was I) at finding two birthday suited kids jumping up and down at his arrival!

What can I say?
I know better.

It was a good thing he did snap me back to reality since it's much better an uncle getting enthusiastically mooned then the pastor for the Deaf. Because, yes, as soon as my little flashers could, they were dressed and more suitable for company when pastor Carlos and his little boy dropped in needing to use my printer and ask a few questions.

And my mountains of laundry? Still there for me to work on tomorrow.

Although, tomorrow Rita is coming by . . .

YEP that sounds about right...except all of our friends and family are used to our nudest colony....not that we really encourage it. i have even tried to put sleepers on backwards in hopes of deterring such escapades...except for then they undress each other and what's more our kids can get naked in record time!
I guess I am just used to people walking in and going..."um...did you know your kids are naked..." I used to rush off to get them dressed..now I just smile and say is that something new or unusual?

Oh, you poor thing.

You could put a fake "quarantine" sign on your door to scare people away. And answer your phone coughing. And start a rumor that there's a snake loose in your house. Paint red dots on your kids and tell people they have chicken pox.

This could be fun...

Ha ha- we had lots of nekkid little kids this weekend...sometimes it is just nice to let em run around with no clothes on, while they still can. ;)

I know the feeling of the mountains of laundry! I tell myself everyday that I am going to get it ALL completed. Never happens. Okay I say never, but befor I went to Virginia Beach to meet up with some friends I spent three nights staying up till 4 a.m. doing laundry. Had everything washed. Left my husband the task of putting up our clothes, got home a week later, and all the clothes still needed putting up. UGH!

As for the naked kiddos. Mine run around in diapers, adn panties until you force them to put clothing on. But like another of your commentors...people are use to it here. LOL

I hope it's okay that I'm laughing out loud here! Sorry, but I couldn't help it, you painted a pretty funny pic--and all too familiar to my life, I'm afraid. Well, not the naked kids anymore--mine are 18, 16 and 11. I might get more than an ood look, lol. More because they didn't know how to dress themselves though.

But seriously, I hear you and although my life is in a different season, I feel extreme overload lately and wish I could just sit down and cry it out. But I don't have time.

I'm laughing, too!!! My kids are past the running around naked stage, but I remember it! Those were the days!

Overloaded? No, it's not you and it's not ministry. It's life in the real world. Do remember though that the kids will never remember the mountain of laundry or the cluttered house -- they will remember jumping up and down naked greeting Uncle John and drinking Gatorade slushies! Those memories are priceless!

Dios les bendiga!!!

Thanks for keeping it real! I love knowing that I am not the only mommy like this. My kids love to be naked!!! What can I say, it's really easy. People used to call my oldest son Adam because he never had clothes on! Yikes. Oh and the mountain of laundry, I feel your pain, I have been dealing with mine all week!!!!

The details of housework and all the rest never seem to end.
Frankly, you're doing a great job with all that's on your plate. Cut yourself some slack [or more if you need it!].
