McDonald's in the Mission Field

The title sounds so much more dramatic than this post really is . . .

But I was reading over at Blakes in Thailand about their experience with Pizza Hut there and sweet Ketchup and I was reminded that this Friday Ensenada is getting it's very own STARBUCKS! WOO HOO!!!!
To join our now so popular McDonald's, Burger King, KFC, Carl's Jr, Peter Piper Pizza, Applebee's, Wal-Mart, Cost-Co . . . oh, and Dairy Queen.
But like the Blakes . . .Carl's Jr is considered "fine dinning" and not for the penny pinchers like ourselves.

A small family can eat there for about $30, expensive eating for around here. But BOY do these places have some whopper PLAY PLACES! All indoor, all air conditioned . . .

So it goes that if all these are high priced, even compared to their American counterparts, what will a tall double shot soy latte go for here?!?!?!?

Guesses?

I can't believe we had our baby's a day apart. How cool!

My sister and her family are missionaries in Capetown, South Africa. She said her mall, the walls are marble, and they have 3 story food courts. She showed me a picture. So beautiful. There is the really poor there, and the really rich.

Oh, I meant to tell you that not only did I have my daughter on Sept 16th, but I also had her at 38 weeks like you. How funny. :P She was 6lb 11oz.

I remember going to a BK in the Dominican Republic (on a mission trip, no less) and yeah, it was really expensive! All of us kids were really surprised.
I'm guessing your latte is going to be around $6.

Wow, what a totally different lifestyle. I'm not sure how well I'd adapt.

Whew! I can't believe it's that much in MX. I would have thought it would be dirt cheap. Who can afford it?

I'm interested to hear how Starbucks does!

This reminds me of when I was in Culiacan during a vacation from college, and another summer missionary and I went to McDonald's. There was a big group of people there celebrating a child's Baptism. I never considered McDonald's fancy until I saw them dressed up there.
