Well, I'm off for a while . . .

We mnister in Ensenada, and our doctors are in San Diego.

It is really nice sometimes to be so close to the boarder. We've been able to maintain our health care in the states which has been particularly helpful for my husband who lives with peritoneal dialysis.

And now, I get to have this baby where I've had my other babies. And tonight we are packing.
I'm not in labor, but I have a doctors appointment tomorrow, and then on the 17th they are going to do the amniocentesis to see if the baby's lungs are mature, if they are they are going to induce labor. So we have to be ready for a stay.

Besides, my hubby kind of wants me to stay put state side from here until the baby is born 'just in case' . . . . so with a weeks worth of clothing for everyone we are heading out.

I don't have a lap top, so I probably won't be posting again until I'm back "home" in Mexico. Perhaps, just perhaps I'll have a friend post an update . . . or if I do get to a computer before then. But I'll promise you nothing.

Either way . . . I'm outta here!

Prayer works! But you knew that already . . .

Thanks to all who were praying that this little boy flip over . . !!!!

God heard

God answered

And so we are back to plan A

On the 17th I'll be going in for an amniocentesis and if baby's lungs are mature we'll induce.

But were also keeping the C-section date . . . just in case this boy is a gymnast at heart and on the 17th we find him breach again . . .

Here's me getting everything ready . . . .

This blog's content.

Hello all . . .

This is becoming a 'baby inbound' blog. Life goes on here, it really does, but honestly there is little of my mind left, and it is pretty much on baby's arrival.

Hence this blogs latest theme . . . *ehem*

I spent three days state side at numerous doctors appointments this last week . . . all by myself (and wouldn't you know my blood sugar numbers were GREAT!) then right when I got back I got asked to go and help interpret at a doctors appointment the next morning.

Yes, ministry does continue, my hubby continues to be busy with various projects for different ministries . . . I'll be interpreting worship this Sunday, and trying to write up a newsletter for our supporters before this little guy comes.

Now that we are back on the subject of this little guy . . .

Previously on Between diapers and Dishes I told you that my doctor wanted me to get an amniocentesis on the 17th, and possibly deliver baby. Well, after an ultrasound showed that this little gymnast has now placed himself in breach position an amniocentesis would be too risky and hence we had to schedule a C-section.

The soonest that the hospital had available for a scheduled C-section is Sep 30. The day before my due date. So, now it is just my fingers being crossed that kiddo wants to come out early on his own. I AM SO READY!

I never had a C-section and would much rather baby come on his own.

Meanwhile - My house is being taken over by battalions of immortal vicious tiny red ants that are biting us and quick to move on any crumb. My soon to be 4 year old has started public school where they only speak Spanish, and my hubby has an appointment to speak to a doctor about having his thyroid removed . . . (recalling that he does live with kidney failure) since his possphorates are too high and his red blood cell level too low.

Oh and want some candy sprinkles with this cake??? The hospital where I am planning on delivering is getting their whole maternity ward remodeled starting Monday.

Just as long as my recovery room isn't in the halls!!!

There are so many things I want to tell you about . . .

  • the ultra sound guy that looks like he should be in a soap opera

  • the receptionist guy in the maternity ward that is called "Ish"

  • why triage should not be the place where Non-stress tests are done

  • how this whole, ministry in Mexico, delivery in USA is going on

But here's the bottom line . . . I'll be in here much less than I have been. I'll be visiting less too . . but I'll still be in orbit around this bloggity universe . . . right now I must be off to put away the MOUNTAIN of clothes that my darling hubby was good enough to wash while I was away . . .

Hasta luego!

We're down to days . .

Pregnancy update:

My blood sugars are starting to get crazy again . . .my doctor tells me this is normal because this is the big time for growth, hormone craziness.

Since we are having blood sugar troubles she wants to give me an amniocentesis test at 38 weeks. If the baby's lungs are developed then we will induce then, if not we will try at 39 week, but whatever the outcome . . . my doctor will not let me go beyond my due date.

And in the back of my mind, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this baby to be born like my last one . . at 37 weeks . . .

So that places the due date of this one anywhere from September 10- Oct 1st, with a high likelihood on Sep 17th. What I will call the "anytime" zone.

15 days until were in the "anytime" zone!

15 days.

Not your Hollywoood cry.

Clair Danes, in my opinion, got casted because of her chin quiver . . . you know, her face just before she cries . . .she has a two thumbs up chin quiver, better than anyone I know!

Otherwise, the trick to crying for the camera is to look lovely doing it . . with big o'l eyes, and some tears, quietly, lovely . . .

I would never get casted. I cry ugly. I mean, scrunched up face, squeals like a runt pig, U.G.L.Y.

Even when I'm trying to hold it together, it isn't pretty.

Well . . . then the challenge lately since I've been interpreting for worship and such and have been so hormonally challenged.

The songs just GET TO ME . . . and, well,

it's just not pretty.

It'll have to do for now.

It's a good thing I don't have to try to sing as well!!!

I wish, I really really wish this could be me.

Unfortunately I am restricted from all that good stuff . . . *sigh*

Speaking of pregnancy . . . I've been promoted (?) to the use of insulin to keep blood sugars at good levels. It's such fun stuff.
But back to the photo . . . my nesting instincts (which are at her level) have been given a kick in the ever expanding posterior, considering that my in-laws are coming! They will be here next week and be staying for about two weeks. So I am tackling one or two rooms at a time, with the help of a friend *GOD BLESS HER!!!!*
Now if I can just remember NOT to put the milk in the cabinet . . . .

Pregnancy Brain - fact or fiction?

Pregnancy brain, also known as "Placenta Brains", I thought was myth . . . in fact I'm finding it quite real.

Yesterday, I'm resting when I get a call.

"Hello?" says me, yeah, the only smart thing I said all conversation long . . .

"Hi, . . . (bla, bla, bla) I need to talk to your husband. Is he home?"

"Um, yeah, so . . . when can we expect you over?"

"To your house? Didn't know I was invited."

" . . . (more bla bla bla as I'm scraping together all my brain cells together to figure this out) . . . so, um, how then were you thinking of talking to my husband?"

"*small laugh* um . . . over the phone.?"

True story, y'all. Worst thing was that this was a single guy I was talking to . . . .*ack!*

So it is no surprise then when it took me longer than the average bear to figure out this following e-mail is very tongue-in-cheek . . .

So for any other mothers-to-be that are reading this . . . THIS IS MEANT TO BE FUNNY, NOT TAKEN FOR REAL!

Amazingly Simple Home Remedies

From: "The Good, Clean Funnies List"

1. If you are choking on an ice cube, simply pour a cup of
boiling water down your throat. Presto! The blockage will
instantly remove itself.

2. Avoid cutting yourself slicing vegetables by getting
someone else to hold while you chop.

3. Avoid arguments with the Mrs. about lifting the toilet
seat by using the sink.

4. For high blood pressure sufferers: simply cut yourself
and bleed for a few minutes, thus reducing the pressure in
your veins. Remember to use a timer.

5. A mouse trap, placed on top of your alarm clock, will
prevent you from rolling over and going back to sleep after
you hit the snooze button.

6. If you have a bad cough, take a large dose of laxatives
-- then you will be afraid to cough.

7. You only need two tools in life: WD-40 and duct tape. If
it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn't
move and does, use the duct tape.

8. Remember: Everyone seems normal until you get to know
them.

Have a good day.

The pregnancy

It's going to be a boy! Funny thing too, since all the old wives around here had guessed as much. I've heard told to me more than a few times that it was going to be a boy since my face is getting thinner. That or the gestational diabetes diet they have me on. . .
No matter, it's a boy and an active one at that! Kicking like crazy. And speaking of gestational diabetes . . . I am having to take some meds to control the blood sugars, but so far no need for the needles!!!!
Hallelujah!
(oh, and a post script here . . . My birthday; T minus 4 days! Woo Hoo!)

Baby naming . . .and other pregnancy news.

I've been struggling with this gestational diabetes, and trying to keep my blood sugars low with no meds and just the right diet and exercises. I am so frustrated, because is just doesn't seem to be working. I've taken to doing 20 min of exercises after each meal.

Funny thing is that my boy goes ballistic at mommy doing any exercises. He hangs and whines and cries on me during the whole thing. I've had to enlist the help of dad to distract him. And then there is my daughter who thinks exercises is really just an invitation to play.
Can you see me at the bottom of this dog pile trying to do a leg streach?
*sigh*
I try.

It still looks like I will have to take something though . . . anyway.

On the light side . . . I used up all my baby names when I had a girl and then a boy. And my husband didn't plan since he was small for the naming of possible babies . . . in essence I am telling you that we don't have an idea at this time what to name the baby on the way.

So I've been having fun over at this site:

Baby Names Country - Baby Boy and Girl Names from all over the world!

And that's my new button over on my side bar. I did find some ideas . . . we'll see.

Mama said there'd be days like this . . .

"There'd be days like this" my mama said . . .

Blame it on the pregnancy, or on the lack of a full night sleep because of little ones still trying to get into mama's bed in the middle of the night, or what have you . . . but Sarah echoed pretty much what I'm feeling . . P.M.S without the M part.

Still have that peace that passes all understanding, and that's a good thing! Funny how even Joy doesn't depend on how your feeling . . . um, do you get that or am I jumping off the deep end here?

Oh well.

Now for the good, the bad and the ugly in reverse order:

The ugly part: We are at the lean time of our month, and after months of use our gas has finally decided to run out on us. Meaning, no hot water and no gas stove for 3 days now. (I'm naming and claiming that this problem gets resolved tomorrow!) I feel so gross, in sore need of a shower! But praise God for toaster ovens and microwaves!

The bad part: I have been diagnosed for Gestational Diabetes. Although not too surprising since both my pregnancies previously I got GD, but this time it has come quite early . . . so I'm off of sweets and really have been limited in the carbs and starches. Did you know that green peas were considered a STARCH! But peanut butter is a PROTEIN! WOO HOO! (no bursting my bubble and warning me about the sugar in Skippy, y'all!)

The good part: I'm a rule follower for the most part and if the doctor says no sweets, I'm pretty good at sticking to it (except for Skippy) and the end results usually are that I lose weight throughout my pregnancy and come out looking GREAT!

So, if I haven't posted anything of quality, or don't for a bit, forgive me, since I am trying to abide by the "if you don't have anything good to say" rule . . .

Just kidding . . . *giggle* like that would stop me~

Good Tuesday

Pregnancy report:
Well, days have me exhausted by 1 or 2 pm where I just long for a nap and then the rest of the evening I'm slightly nauseous, but tolerable.

Since Sunday, when Virginia told me that this was the week to register kids for school, I've been running around looking to sign my little one up for Kindergarten.

Here in Mexico Kindergarten has 3 grades, 1st grade kinder is for 3 year olds a.k.a. preschool, and you really have to pay for a private school for that one. "Public" schools usually start with 2nd grade kinder for 4 year olds and 3rd grade kinder for 5 year olds.

My little miss turns 4 in November. So with prayer we've been looking at close by schools.

I've got one advantage to enrolling her to school in that I was born in Mexico myself, but I still need to do a lot of footwork and jump through some hoops to get her "registered" and all things legal. I'm wiped out.

But, praise God, I found a school that is small and close by, even if it is 7 blocks up a steep hill.

*sigh*

Well, I guess that's one way to work off the baby fat . . .

There is something in the water . . .

Ode to a Husband from His Pregnant Wife
posted and writen by mommy off the record

Love was…holding hands while watching a movie.
Love is… holding my hand while I’m feeling sick.

Love was… taking me out to a fancy restaurant.
Love is…taking me to my prenatal appointments.

Love was…bringing me breakfast in bed on a special occasion.
Love is… making me toast and jam every morning so I (maybe) won’t puke in the toilet.

Love was…picking me a flower.
Love is…picking me up from work every day to have lunch with me.

Love was… making me a special dinner.
Love is…making me and Little Guy dinner every night because it makes me sick to open the refrigerator.

Love was…putting down the toilet seat.
Love is… doing all the laundry and the cleaning and grocery shopping - and when I say all, I mean all – because you’d rather let me rest.

Love was…sleeping in together on the weekends.
Love is…waking up early on the weekends with Little Guy so I can sleep in.

Love was… telling me that you love me.
Love is…showing me that you love me.

Love is… stepping up and being there and never telling me to suck it up. And keeping me sane and making me feel not alone.

Love was…being a friend.
Love is…also being a partner.

Yes, folks, we are expecting baby #3, and I thank Mommy off the record for letting me post her Ode . . . seems there are a lot of pregnant blogging friends out there . . . so there are a bunch of hubbies of pregnant bloggers . . . THANK YOU!
